Welcome to Rich R Tone Records.We are the oldest bluegrass
recording company in existence. Rich R Tone was founded by Jim (Hobe) Stanton in 1946 in Johnson City Tennessee.Later moved
to Nashville, back to Johnson City and finally back to Nashville for good. The genre of music Rich R Tone produced in the
early days was called hillbilly music . One of the first acts to record on Rich R Tone was The Stanley Brothers from the coal
fields of Virginia. They recorded seven 78rpm records between 1947 and 1952. Other acts that recorded first on Rich R Tone
were, The Bailey Brothers,Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper,Buffalo Johnson, The Muddy River Boys, Curly Seckler, Jimmy Skinner and
so many more.
